When I returned from the AMA meetings in Chicago at the end of June, I wound up straining my shoulder and had become concerned that I tore my rotator cuff. I went to see an orthopedist friend of mine who injected me with cortisone and lidocaine to see if that would relieve some of the pain that I was experiencing. He told me that if I did not feel relief within a couple of days than my only other option would be surgery. Fortunately, the injections helped and I’ve slowly been able to regain more motion and strength in the shoulder.
I was advised not to exercise for two weeks. Those two weeks are almost up and I am anxious to begin my exercise regimen this Saturday. I am looking forward to getting back to the “Fit Doc” Challenge and I hope you have been active as well. Please send me your comments or suggestions for exercises and strength training so that we can share this with all of the MSNJ physician-members to continue making New Jersey a healthier community for all.
Get fit, stay fit.
